Hyundai Creta SUV crosses 5 lakh sales mark in country, takes 5 years

Hyunda's popular SUV, the Creta, has achieved a milestone in its Indian journey. Within 5 years of its launch, the company has managed to sell 5 lakh units of the car in the country. The Creta continues to be the nation's best-selling SUV ever since the lockdown due to Coronavirus opened. In the month of July too, 11,549 customers made Creta their first choice. This figure was more than the Seltos SUV of Kia Motors.

Tarun Garg, director, sales, marketing and service, Hyundai Motor India, said, "With 5 lakh sales figures, Creta has set yet another benchmark in the industry, topping it in the SUV segment. At Hyundai Motor India We are continuously strengthening the portfolio for customers with the best features in the segment and technically equipped cars.

However, it is to be kept in mind that these are wholesale figures for Creta and not retail. Given the lockdown, many dealers were not able to operate till June, which means that the retail number is likely to be much lower. This is indicated by sales data released for the July 2020 by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA).

According to FADA, there is a shortage of cars at the dealership and the speed is increasing only slightly after lockdown. Hyunda India, for instance, sold 41,300 cars in July, while the dealers registered only 29,413 cars, ie 40.41 percent less.
