Kia Motors (Kia Motors) is working on the electric version of its very popular compact SUV Seltos (Seltos). The company will make its global debut of this new electric SUV this year, after which it will be launched in China. It will also be introduced in other global markets. However, the company has not disclosed whether it will be launched in India or not. According to a recent media report, the Kia Seltos EV (Kia Seltos EV) will be the company's cheapest electric SUV. The design of the electric model of this compact SUV will be simple but attractive.
Features
One of the latest shows a possible design of its production model in digital rendering. The Kia Seltos EV has a choked-off grille for better aerodynamics. The updated front bumpers found on the EV, differently designed 17-inch alloy wheels and blue highlights on the fog lamp assembly on the radiator grille distinguish it from this petrol model. However, similar to the regular version, LED headlamps, dual-tone ORVMs, roofs have been given.
Motor and speed
The powertrain of the Kia Seltos EV (Kia Celtos EV) will be a Hyundai Kona (Hyundai Kona) electric SUV. The Hyundai Kona EV features a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 39.2kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric motor is claimed to give 136 bhp of power and 395 Nm of torque. The Kona offers an ARAI-certified range of 452 kilometers and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 9.7 seconds. Car makers can also use the Kia K3 EV electric powert rain for the Seltos EV.
Range
The Kia Seltos electric car is expected to have a range of around 400 km on full charging. Charging port areas can be provided at the front like the model offered. Global production of the Kia Seltos EV may begin in August 2020. It will be built at the carmaker's Jiangsu plant in Yancheng in South Korea. The company plans to make less than 10,000 units of this electric SUV in the first year.
