Maruti Suzuki India sold 108,064 units in July, compared to 57,428 units in June 2020. The carmaker has achieved a growth of 88.2 per cent on a month-on-month basis. However, the company registered a decline of 1.1 per cent in July 2019, which shows that demand for automobiles is slowly coming back on track. As things are slowly moving towards New Normal, the carmaker is speeding up production to meet the rapid demand in the market.
Looking at the sales on a year-on-year basis, in June 2019, the company sold 109,264 units, a decline of 1.1 per cent in the previous month. In July 2020, Maruti Suzuki sold 100,000 units in the domestic market. However, the company has sold 101,307 units in the month of July in total domestic sales as against 100,006 units in July 2019.
In total sales, Maruti Suzuki's Alto, S-Presso, WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S sales fell by 0.4 per cent to 68,787 units. At the same time, sales of Ciaz compact sedan declined by 45.6 percent with 1,303 units over the same period last year. The company achieved 26.3 per cent growth in total utility vehicle space with Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6 at 19,177 units in July 2020 over the same period last year. In July 2019, this figure stood at 15,178 units.
Similarly, in July, the company exported a total of 6,757 vehicles and Maruti Suzuki achieved a growth of 57 per cent on a month-on-month basis. The company exported 4,289 units in June 2020. However, there is a decline of 27 per cent against 9,258 units exported in July 2019.
