Mitsubishi Pajero SUV.
Mitsubishi Motors Corp has predicted the biggest operating loss (working loss) in the last 18 years in the current financial year. To overcome this, the company has decided to discontinue the Pajero SUV. The Pajero competed with the Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market.
Why Mitsubishi Discontinue Pajero ?
Japan's automobile manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors Corp is preparing to shut down its Pajeto SUV. The company has taken this decision due to the possibility of heavy losses. Indeed, Mitsubishi has recently announced that it will suffer heavy losses for the second consecutive year (to the end of March 2021 in the current fiscal year) due to the outbreak of the Corona virus. This would be Mitsubishi's biggest loss in the last 18 years. To overcome this, the company has decided to discontinue the Pajero.
Mitsubishi, Japan's sixth-largest automaker, anticipates an operating loss (working loss) of $ 1.3 billion (140 billion yen) in the current fiscal year ending in March 2021. In view of this, the company is preparing to reduce its workforce and production. Also, to reduce the fixed cost by 20%, there is a plan to close the non-profit dealership in the next two years.
Preparations to close Pajero and its plant also.
Under this restructuring plan, Mitsubishi has announced to stop production of its Pajero SUV from next year. At the same time, the company will also shut down the plant in Japan making pajero. Mitsubishi is looking to reduce its presence in Europe and North America. On the other hand, the company will focus on increasing its presence in Asia to improve sales.
Renault-Nissan Alliance use for new product
In addition, Mitsubishi will use the Renault-Nissan Alliance to develop new products. The company is working on a new-generation Outlander, which will be based on the Alliance's CMF-C / D (Common Modular Family) platform. This platform has been used in Nissan's Rogue / Qashqai, X-Trail and Renault's Kadjar, Talisman and Koleos cars.
