The country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has another head on its head. Maruti's entry-level hatchback car Alto has recently become the only car in India, with sales figures exceeding 40 lakh units. Alto's sales figures are a testimony to its popularity.
Alto a car that can be easily seen on Indian roads. Alto has topped the sales chart for two decades. There are many reasons why this car remained in popularity. In these, where the car is to be cheap and comfortable, its look, safety and features are also upgraded.
Along with this, the after sales support of Maruti Suzuki after the sale of the car also goes in its favor. Apart from all these things, the re-sale value of the car is also good. All these reasons have maintained its popularity.
Maruti Suzuki says that Alto has managed to achieve the number one position in the passenger vehicle segment in the country for 16 consecutive years. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director - Marketing and Sales, Maruti, said, "Alto has been ranked as the No. 1 selling car in India for the 16th consecutive year and we are in a position to announce another notable milestone of 40 lakh cumulative sales. Feeling proud. " "It has become a new record of sales that no other Indian car has ever achieved," he said.
Srivastava also highlighted the emotional attachment customers have with Alto, saying, "Over the years, the brand Alto has built a strong emotional connection with our customers. We would like to dedicate this achievement to all members of our Alto family.
Four years after its launch in 2004, the Alto became India's best-selling car for the first time and the crown has not landed since then. By 2008, 1 million units of these cars had been sold and by 2012 the number had doubled to 20 lakh. 1 million units were sold in the next four years. In November 2019, the Alto became the only car in India to cross the 38 lakh unit mark.
Alto has also found some strong rivals in the past. The Renault Kwid is one such example and has managed to excite small car buyers. However, it has not been able to remove Alto from its top position.
Frequent upgrades have helped Alto maintain its speed. Because it has been seen in the Indian market that people in the compact car segment also consider convenience and safety features along with considering the low cost and running costs.
