KIA Intelligent Manual gearbox.
KIA revealed Intelligent Manual Gearbox that will used with 48V mild-hybrid gear box launch with KIA Rio hatchback, Ceed Hatchback and XCeed crossover. This intelligent manual gear box work with hybrid technology.
KIA Introduce intelligent manual gearbox that use Electronic rather than mechanical linkage for its mild- hybrid model. KIA Claims that New intelligent manual gear box increase fuel efficiency. Mechanical linkage of clutch is replaced bu wire-clutch technology.
New iMT technology increase fuel efficiency up to 3 percent. New intelligent manual transmission will paired with 1.6 liter 48V mild Hybrid diesel powertrain in Ceed Hatchback and XCeed crossover and also paired with 1.0 liter mild-hybrid petrol version in Rio.
The system replace traditional mechanical linkage for clutch with an electronic wired connection with system that integrated with 48 V mild hybrid Electric vehicle powertrain system. This mild with hybrid starter generation to switch off the engine when coasting while keeping chosen gear engaged which KIA claims boost in efficiency.
The iMT system has been developed by Hyundai Motors group European technical center in Germany with specific focus on European market due to continued popularity of manual gear box. Demand of Manual gear box increasing day by day, it also help to smooth start/stop.
